Valley and Ridge Province
The Valley and Ridge Province lies between the Blue Ridge and the Appalachian Plateau. The area is a valley which lies at 2,000 + feet in elevation. The valley runs the length of the entire state from top to bottom. The valley sports numerous rivers and streams. These rivers include the New River which flows North and the Roanoke River. The Valley and Ridge also is center for manufacturing and other High Tech industries. Roanoke Virginia is a many transportation city and hub for the region. The area is cover with sedimentary rocks and is excellent source for finding marine fossils.
