Valence electrons are placed around the atom in a certain order: Right, Left, Top, Bottom, Right, Left, Top and Bottom. all elements in Group 1 has 1 valence dot and each group has different number of valence dots. (See Chart to the Right) Valence Dot Placement is a bit more complicated for groups 3 through 12 as they differ.
