The Thermosphere is the fourth layer of the atmosphere. The Thermosphere ranges from 86 km to 500 km. The Thermosphere is the hottest layer of the atmosphere with temperatures up to 3,200 F. The Thermosphere contains a layer of charge electrical ion particles. This are of the Thermosphere is called the Ionosphere.

The Ionosphere bounces AM radio waves back to Earth allowing communication over the globe without repeater stations needed by FM stations.
