Sunspot Observation Lab
My Students at Franklin County High School using a Celestron SCT 8 and a special solar filter prepare to observe sunspots directly on the Sun.
The solar filter is placed directly on the corrector plate of the SCT 8.
Using the spotting scope we center the telescope directly into the Sun and then "capped" the finderscope so the Sun's rays would not damage the finderscope.
Students then took turns in observing sunspots.
Caution! Never
Look directly at the Sun without a special Solar Filter, it will blind
you!!!!!!!!
