Permeability vs. Porosity

Permeability is the ability of water to flow through a substance such as rock. If the permeability is high, the water will flow quickly. If the permeability is low, the water flows very slowly.

Porosity is the amount of airspace between grains in a rock. The higher the porosity the more air space or water the rock can hold.
