Reading the meniscus is quite simple! Look at the graduated cylinder filled with 100ml of a liquid. You will noticed a curve shape line in the liquid solution at the 100ml mark. The curve is caused by the solution adhering to the sides of the graduated cylinder. This creates the bowl shape effect which at the base of the bowl is the true level of the liquid.
