Low clouds range from the surface to 2,000 m. Low clouds are the clouds that people are most familiar with. Low clouds bring weather unlike middle or upper clouds which mark the coming of weather. Low clouds include Nimbostratus, Stratocumulus, Stratus, Cumulus and Fog.

Nimbostratus are storm clouds. They are clouds that cover the sky and produce precipitation such as rain, sleet, snow and drizzle.

Stratocumulus clouds are bumpy and cover the sky and are not thin and wispy and bumpy like Cirrocumulus or are medium altitude like Altocumulus.

Stratus clouds are usually grey clouds that cover the sky and are not thin and wispy like Cirrostratus or have a watery Sun effect like Altostratus.

Cumulus clouds are fluffy style clouds and usually bring good weather.

Fog are very low clouds of less than 150 m in altitude.
