| Isotopes |
| An Isotope is an element that contains different mass numbers by the adding of a neutron to its nucleus. Adding neutrons increases the mass number without changing the element to another element. However, when neutrons are added to the nucleus of an element physical properties of that element are altered. For example, Hydrogen-3 (Tritium) is radioactive whereas Hydrogen-1 (Protium) is not. Isotopes of elements are sometimes very rare in nature. |
