Igneous Rocks
Igneous Rock Samples
Igneous rocks are rocks born of fire. They are created from magma or lava. Igneous rocks that are created by magma are igneous intrusive in that they were created underground. Igneous rocks that created from lava are igneous extrusive rocks in that they are form on the surface of the Earth. Igneous Intrusive and Igneous Extrusive rocks can be distinguished by the amount of visible crystals in the rock matrix. If you can see more than 51% of the crystals in the rock matrix, the rock is igneous intrusive and if you cannot see 51% of the crystals, the rock is igneous extrusive.
