Ideal Gas Constant

Return to Chemistry Index Page

The idea gas constant is used in the Idea gas law. The value of the "R" depends on the units used in

the Ideal Gas Law PV=nRT.

For Example:

R= 0.0821 L.atm/mol.K

R= 62.4 L.mm Hg/ mol.K or L.torr/ mol. K

R= 8.314 L.kPa/mol.K

R= 8.314 J/ mol.K

R= 8.134 kJ/kmol.K

R= .08314 bar.L/mol.K

There are many more values for "R" than listed above. These are just the more common ones.
