Hail

to Meteorology Index Page
Hail begins as a water droplet in a cumulonimbus cloud. Updrafts in the cloud pushes the droplet to the top of the cloud where it freezes into a ice pellet.
The ice pellet falls through the cloud and is again push up through the cloud wrapping more moisture around it and grows in size. The ice pellet falls again through the cloud and will repeat the process until the up drafts can no longer push the ice pellet up and the pellet falls as a hail stone. Hail stones can be any where from the size of a pea to a grape fruit size ball of ice. Hail can cause several damage to homes and other property and can harm crops and even kill animals.
