Solar Eclipses are where the Moon, comes between the Sun and the Earth. Lunar Eclipses is where the Earth comes between the Sun and the Moon. The umbra is the total darkness cast during a eclipse and the penumbra is the lighter shadow cast (like Dusk )during an eclipse. Eclipses are common they occur every year, however they occur in different regions each year. The period between eclipses for a given area is often many years apart.
