Air Masses

Air Masses are large bodies of air that are similar in temperature and moisture. There are for types of air masses. These types include: Continental Polar "cP", Continental Tropical "cT", Maritime Polar "mP" and Maritime Tropical "mT".

Continental Polar "cP" air masses are cold dry stable air which comes down from upper Canada.

Continental Tropical "cT" air masses are warm dry unstable air masses which rise up from the South.

Maritime Polar "mP" air masses are moist cold unstable air masses which flow in from the cold polar waters.

Maritime Tropical "mT" air masses are moist warm unstable air masses which flow in from the South.
